i'm a big boy now!
Carter is officially a Big Boy! He has been in a toddler bed now for 2 weeks and life is really so good. We had hardly any issues, fights, or sleepless nights with him moving to his new bed. We had talked a lot about moving him into a toddler bed before his sister comes, but we weren't sure on the timing. Then one Friday night we decided to just do and deal with whatever came. We love the adjustable bed at Ikea, and even though it was a bit pricey it is exactly what we want, and it will grow with him into a twin mattress. We thought the best thing would be to just take down the crib all together so he couldn't see it and want to go back into it. Carter was super helpful taking down his crib and helped build his bed. He didn't fuss at all! Then when it came to go into it the first night he just laid down and went to sleep! Seriously! He did roll off the bed in the middle of the night and Christina sat with him for awhile to go back to sleep, but every time she moved he'd wake up and want her to stay. So in an effort to get more sleep we finished the early morning hours all snuggled together. Then the next couple of nights he was perfect, and we had only one night where he kept getting up and coming out of his room. That was due to Mike having some friends over and Carter knew that he was missing out on something important. Since then, he just wakes up between 6-6:30, but a lot of times we can get him to go back for another hour if we just turn on a little light in his room, or we just enjoy some snuggle time before we start the day. A couple of times he has come running to find us laughing because he's so proud that he got out of bed to come and get us. We love it!
This is him in his first night in his new bed. He really is growing up so it is exciting and yet sad to know that he won't just be our little baby boy anymore.
