Sadie smiles!

Our little Sadie is so smiley! She started smiling practically when she came out, but she has been doing the receptive smiling for about a month now. It just melts our hearts! She even did a full out laugh on Sunday with Jana, but of course when the camera came out, nothing. :) The kids love to make her smile and do pretty good until they go too far and it turns into a cry...but isn't that what siblings are for? ;-)

Happy 30th!

Last Sunday was a better day than I thought it would be with turning 30. There were no tears, just lots of smiles and yummy food.  :-) On Saturday, Mike and I went zip lining at the top of the Provo river to feel young since we're both 30,  :-) and it was so much fun! I kept running a little short of the platform even without any breaking, but it was great! There were 5 zip lines down the mountain we did, and with the group it took about an hour and a half. On Sunday Mike and Jana did a great job taking care of me and then we had the family over for dinner. It was also special because it was my Mom's last day before she headed back to SC. I got a lot of my favorite things...new kitchen gadgets, and some cute clothes. I'm grateful for all that I've experienced in my 30 years, and so happy that I don't have any gray hairs yet.  ;-)

First day of kindergarten!

Last Friday was Carter's first day of kindergarten. We were all looking forward to it. Mike even got off work so that we could both take him, and spend some time in his class. He was so cute and fun to watch! We found his desk, did a hand painting, turned in homework, (yes on the first day), and did a few other activities with him to get him settled before we took off. What a big boy we have!

Kindergarten testing

Before Carter started kindergarten he had to do some testing to see what he knows. His teacher's room was set up with all this Superman stuff so he was excited!  :-) The"test"consisted of all these different things like counting, colors, rhyming, spelling, reading, etc. He did really good but he couldn't stop moving, and by the end with the spelling and reading he was done! I took a picture of his paper because I thought it was kind of funny with his doodling and making up letters. For the reading she asked him to "read" it and point at the words, so he read it and then pointed at the words from right to left. Even after she corrected him he still did it the wrong way. I had a hard time not smiling.  :-) They definitely need to make the test shorter or break it up. Anyway he is super excited!

Dillon and Charlee's wedding

Two weeks ago we took our first family vacation with Sadie to Montana. My oldest nephew Dillon got married in the Billings Montana temple to the beautiful Charlee. Most of my siblings were able to make it out a few days before the wedding and had fun at Julie and Nathan's ranch as well as going through Yellowstone. We sent Carter and Savi with my parents and Jana. They left late at night in a rental (whole other story) on Tuesday. Of course there were a few freak outs on the drive, but overall they did well. Jana became their new best friend, but everyone was relieved when Mike and I showed up on Thursday.  :-) We all stayed at a beautiful hotel where we enjoyed a delicious family dinner and catching up. The kids ran wild and loved the water park right next door. Sadie enjoyed being passed around, and it was just great to see everyone! The day of the wedding was beautiful, and though the wind was blowing with all the pictures, as far as I could tell things turned out perfect for the happy couple. We were happy we made the trip!
