Besides the joy of having a new little life come into our lives this weekend, we enjoyed the cabin and getting ready for our baby to come. Mike and his family had a great time enjoying the beautiful weather at the cabin.

Of course Mike can't go there and completely relax since there is always something to be done. This weekend he made medicine shelf out of an aspen log to put above the fridge. It looks great and it just need a coat or two of lacquer to finish it off.

They've also worked hard on beautifying the outside of the cabin by lacquering the outside of the cabin, clearing out dead trees, and building a beautiful new picnic table.

While they worked on the cabin, Christina worked on organizing the baby's room. She made great progress getting the clothes, toys, and room ready for his arrival. There is always a little more to be done, but we're both happy with the progress so far. Now that his room is done, we have a functioning vehicle, and his cousin is here, we are more than ready for him to come join our eternal family.

Welcoming into the world,
Jared Joesph Hansen!!!

That's right, Christina's sister Sarah had her little baby boy first! She was due a week later than Christina on the 16th, but this little guy didn't want to wait. He was born around 6:30 am today and weighed just under 6 pounds and is 18 inches long. We can't wait for our little guy to come! It's such an incredible thought to think that we'll be holding our little boy before too long.

He is super calm and super cute! He seems to have the biggest hands and feet, but he doesn't ball up like most new babies. He just seems to be relaxing and enjoying the space.

Isn't there a saying something like, "When it rains, it pours." Well, that's how we've been feeling lately. Not only do we have only two weeks left before our lives are changed forever with a baby boy, but we have had the toughest time with our vehicles. First off the Kia has been making pretty bad noises for the last month, and finally last week the part that was causing most of the trouble just gave out. Then to add a load of more stress Mike's whole engine needs to be overhauled! :-( We were so excited because we were just getting things together and building up our savings and then this happened.
(Old & New rear wheel bearings)
Well, luckily Mike is amazing at fixing vehicles and Christina has the bestest brothers ever who own an salvage yard in Lincoln, Nebraska. They absolutely saved the day by shipping us an a/c compressor, that controls also the power steering, for the Kia, AND an almost brand new engine with only 65,000 miles on it for the truck!! They saved us tremendously on the engine because it only cost us a fraction of the cost we would have paid anywhere else! We also found a guy that may take awhile to replace the engine, but he was a few hundred dollars less than anyone else as well.

So even though life has felt ridiculously out of control lately, the Lord has definitely blessed us more than we deserve. We are so grateful to have the gospel in our lives, and we know that we are blessed for doing the best we can, even if we have much room for improvement.

What an amazing guy Mike is! He is just so talented at fixing and making things. He has many projects on his list already this summer, and he never stops! He's been working on designing and creating this amazing part at work. He literally designed and found every part for this tester. The easy explanation for everything you see is that this product was made to test the functionality and safety of the circuit breakers (the blue and green piece.)

He had to research and buy every little part, and he had to make a lot of what you see below from scratch. The clear door is a safety measure so that no electricity can pass through until the lid is closed.

These pegs hold the circuit breaker in place.
Then he did ALL of the wiring for each button. Check out the complexity of it! Yet, you will notice that it is very organized and neat. Mike has such talent for making things just look good and work efficiently. He's the best!

We are just loving the warmer weather! Mostly because that means we can drive up to the cabin. It is truly the most perfect time of year up there now because the leaves just came in so it breathtakingly green. It also makes parties at the cabin that much more fun when you don't have to bundle up to enjoy the outdoors.

We were able to get together with a lot of Christina's side of the family on Sunday. We've been blessed to have the presence of Christina's South Carolina cousin, Tammy and her two girls visiting. Yasha kept telling Christina that she has a southern accent. It must be the good influence There were a crazy amount of kids, but that made things even more fun. Everyone, including the adults, loved the swings, and we actually managed to leave without any major injuries.

It's so fun for us to be able to have other people be able to come to the cabin and enjoy and love it. The Hobo Haven is definitely one of our favorite places, and we love to share it with anyone who wants to come.
