HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

We hope that you had a fun Halloween! Mike's sister Lisa got to dress up today for Halloween and she looks so cute! It's pretty amazing that Cheri not only got a costume on Lisa, but makeup as well. That had to be a chore. :-)

We went over to Mike's parents' house for Halloween and found some old costumes in the basement. Though our costumes were pretty awesome, Mike's sister Angela was the hit of the party!

Watch out for the scary monsters!!

The cabin is coming together! We are finally starting to see the cabin being put back together inside and out. We've basically finished the outside except for lacquering the wood. We finished installing the big army stove and it looks great!

Then Christina's Uncle Steve worked hard to wire up the main floor. It was surprising to see the jumbled wired mess actually work and do what we wanted it to do. We're excited to have so many outlets and switches! To do the electric work on the main floor we had to finish the drywall so now we just need to finish the pine boards and the bottom floor will mostly be done!

We also got some great cupboards so it looks great to start putting things back together. We hope we will be able to finish a lot more before the snow comes because then the roads are closed and the only way into the cabin is through snowmobiles, so the next couple of weeks are going to be extremely busy!

Yesterday, the 23rd of October marks the first year after Christina's sweet Aunt Ruthie passed away. She battled with breast cancer for over a year. Aunt Ruthie was the sweetest, funniest, craftiest lady you could ever meet.

The day before she passed away a lot of her family went to her hospital room and decorated it for Halloween. We dressed her up as a Queen and she loved it! She was coherent and hilarious the whole day which was such a blessing for us to see her as herself one last time.
Her passing was extremely sad and hard for her family, but we know that she is in a happier place with no pain. She is perfect in body and spirit and she is working hard while she waits for her family and friends to join her. We have felt her spirit strong with us, and we know that she is watching over us and helping us along.

Aunt Ruthie's son, Lee and his wife Jen recently had a baby girl, Ashley Ruth Conrad. Lee & Jen had to wait for that little girl to come, and we think that was because her Grandma Ruthie was having her time with her first. :-) When Lee gave his daughter a name and a blessing he said through tears, that Ashley is much like her Grandma Ruthie. Lucky for her and us to be blessed with someone as sweet as Aunt Ruthie.

Yeah! Christina's sister Sarah had her baby on Saturday the 7th!! Her name is Annamarie Dee Hansen and she was Sarah's largest baby at 8 pounds 4 ounces! Annamarie is number 6 for Sarah and Jared.
Sarah called Christina at 1:30 am on Saturday to say her water had broke and that she needed Christina to come down to Orem and watch the kids. Then by 5:25 little Annamarie was born! The only complication that luckily wasn't serious was that there was a knot in the cord, but not a tight one.

Annamarie is grandchild number 25 on the Habel side, and Mike and Christina are glad to be close to their new little niece.

What a red face! Annamarie is a such a cutie and Sarah says that she is probably her quietest child yet. Sarah went home on Monday morning, and all of her kids are excited about their new baby sister.

On Monday the 2nd, we had a quick but wonderful visit from Christina's sister-in-law Ha, her two cutest girls, Tiffany and Kristalee, and Christina's dad.

They were only passing through so they didn't have much time, but we were able to show them beautiful temple square and gravity hill. The girls loved it and we were sad that they weren't able to stay longer.

The weather at the cabin went finally from winter to fall! A little backwards, but the first weekend of October was the peak of fall in the Wasatch National Park as most of the leaves had changed to a golden yellow while many had already fallen.

It was the perfect weather to work on the outside of the cabin. All of the hard work that has gone into the cabin is starting to pay off as the outside at least is starting to look like a look like a brand new cabin! We have three of the four sides of the cabin done with siding. No more insects or rodents will ever be able to find there way into the cabin through the walls!

Before....

Now...
Even though we have tons left to do, you can see that we've made a HUGE improvement. Check out the CABIN SLIDESHOW on our summer web album for details about all that we've done to our little cabin. Now, we have most of the insulation done on the main floor so after we finish the siding, we can focus on finishing the inside!

It's been a lot of fun being up there every weekend and seeing how our surroundings change. It's always so gorgeous! We truly are lucky to be able to enjoy the outdoors so much.
