What a fabulous day!! This will always be a special day to our new family because it was the day that Carter was given a name and a blessing in the Church. We've looked forward to this opportunity for sometime, and we were just overwhelmed by the love and support shown to us. We were so happy to have so many family members and friends present for the blessing. Mike did a fantastic job blessing our little boy. Christina had tears right away as her worthy husband took their new infant in his arms, and was joined by close family members that were also worthy Priesthood holders in the circle. How amazing and true the Church is!!
The one thing we prayed for was for Carter not to cry, but of course he was hungry when the service started so we gave him his first bottle of breast milk, which was super cold, but Carter didn't mind one bit. He chugged it down without taking a breath. Just as he finished the bottle the blessing was suppose to start so we stuck a pacifier in his mouth hoping that it would last, but it fell out so he let out some loud cries towards the end, but it got a laugh out of the congregation.
We wanted to have everyone that could stand in the circle for the blessing, but there were just too many people. So trying to fall close to the number the Bishop gave us as the max amount of people, we had just the our dads, Mike's grandpas, Mike's brother, and all of our uncles present come up, which turned out to be just the right amount. It was very special to see both sides of our families join as one in the Power of the Priesthood.
We blessed Carter at 1 pm in our ward, but earlier that morning we went down to Orem to bless Carter's cousin Jared at 11 am. We did a lot of rushing that morning, but it was so worth it to have these boys share this special day, and especially because Christina and Sarah's parents were in town. It made everything worth it.
After the blessings and pictures of the boys in white, we rushed over to Mike's parent's house for a luncheon. It was so wonderful to see so many family and friends. Cheri's house was overfilled, but it was a good time with everyone. People are just amazed at how similar Carter and Jared look. It was fun to show them both off.
We definitely had some proud grandparents!
