We sold Mike's truck! We have been trying to sell the truck since Carter was born over a year ago so that we could save money, but we didn't have any serious hits. Then we lowered the price again by quite a bit and we got a ton of calls, although nothing really substantial. Then a guy from out of town called on Thursday and offered a low ball offer that we refused, but we said we could go possibly go down to $5k. We didn't think we'd hear from him, but the next day he said that he'll take it and he was driving up to Arizona to pick it up on Saturday. It all happened so fast that we thought it was too good to be true, but it all worked out relatively smoothly and now we're truckless. :-( It's pretty sad since we had so many great memories with it, but it's time to move on.
The funny thing is that we would have really liked to use the truck next week when we move, so we'll see how that works out. But we're grateful to sell it to a guy around our age that was excited about it. After selling the truck of course we went to the house and kept working, but we made some awesome progress while Carter entertained us.

The biggest achievement for today was covering the first glass block! It felt so great to do so.

We just can't believe what the previous owners were thinking...we wonder if they still liked it after they saw how many there were. We know that we'll be much happier when they're all out of sight and just a distance memory under some beautiful new paint.

Even though we've been working non-stop on this house and driving back to our apartment every night to sleep, we were able to break away to enjoy a reception for one of Mike's cousins last night. They had a beautiful reception and it was great to see our extended family. Carter enjoyed all the kids and the toys that he took from who knows where. :-)

We started cleaning our house! We haven't signed the papers yet, but we have been given permission to go in and start cleaning and painting since it has been vacant for awhile. One of our first jobs is to round out the corner down the stairs. The metal was showing through and it was dangerous, but it is going to look so good now. It feels good to start working on the house to make it our home. We've got a long road ahead, but it will look great when we're done with it.

We're not sure if the people before us had to leave in a hurry or if they were just messy, but it just seems like they didn't take the best care of things. Oh well, we've got a ton of great helpers to get this place spic and span, although it will take plenty of elbow grease to do so.

We love our little boy and his laugh! We can't get enough of it, so we want to share these precious moments with you. Enjoy!

5214 W. Butterfield Peak Circle
Riverton, UT 84096

We got a house! We finally got the magical paper that gives us the written approval to go ahead with the inspection, appraisal, and final closing of the house. We are so so SO EXCITED! We've been waiting for almost 5 months to get our dream house. We will move in on Sept 4th since that is when we need to be out of our lease. Here are some pictures of house! (Taken while we were looking at it, so they're not the best)
We've got some TLC to put into it since it was left kind of mess, and they did a terrible job painting, but we're up for the challenge! Some of the main points that sold us on the house are the large yard (.25), the 3 car garage, and just the size of the house 3200 sq ft. One of our first tasks is to cover these glass blocks. They are literally above every door, closet, and entry way in the upstairs. They really date the house even though it was only built in 2001. It will be a project, but a necessary one to make it feel more like our home.
We'll keep you updated on our progress!

1st Annual UT Habel Family Reunion!!

Last night we held our first reunion for the Habel gang that live in Utah and the surrounding areas. We met up at a nice covered pavilion in Cherry Hill, and with the help of Amber, Cindy, and Sarah it turned out great! The morning started off cold and rainy, but the sun came out by the time we met up at 4:30 and it was beautiful.
The main purpose of this reunion is to become closer as an extended family since we all live relatively close to each other, but life makes it difficult to get together. We hope to make this a standing yearly tradition. Sarah and Richard have volunteered to take on next year, good luck!

For this reunion we had a delicious dinner of beef & chicken sandwiches, with plenty of yummy sides to complete the meal. We had about 40-45 people show up which was awesome! It was fun to visit and catch up on life. Some of kids also got to go enjoy the water park at Cherry Hill.

After eating way too much yummy food, Cindy took the floor and did a tribute to Richard & Lucille Habel who is the reason we were all there gathered. She shared a love letter from Grandpa to Grandma that probably won her heart. Cindy also shared some wonderful stories with us of their lives, and then read their obituaries.

After the beautiful tribute, Cindy gave out some prizes for the following categories:
OLDEST & YOUNGEST
KINDERGARTEN
MOST KIDS PRESENT & MARRIED THE LONGEST
THE NEWLYWEDS
We loved meeting Darin's new wife, Michelle, at the reunion. She fits right in with the group! We were also pleased to share the special day with Carl & Andrea as the reunion was on the exact date of their 3rd anniversary. We're glad that they choose to spend it with us!

CARL & ANDREA'S 3RD ANNIVERSARY!!!
HABEL TRAITS

The Habel family is known for some pretty apparent traits, so the group voted to see who had the most freckles and square jaw, as well as who was named after the grandparents.

MOST FRECKLES - of course Cindy would win! :-)
SQUARE JAW - There were definitely more square jaws in the crowd, but out of the 6 that would admit it, the vote went to Darin!
Pictures of course are super important as we get together, so we grouped together the families belonging to each brother and snapped a memory to keep. Unfortunately our camera missed the whole Clyde & Barbara group, but we'll get it from Cindy and post it later. It was a wonderful gathering and we can't wait to see everyone and more again next year!
